Precautions
The ATD Tough (carbon drag) spool can be used as is, but the drag adjustment range will be narrower and it will be easier to generate high drag force, so please be very careful when tightening the drag knob while fishing.
DRD
The DRD is a completely new drag mechanism designed to withstand the repeated runs of large fish over long periods of time, preventing wear, damage, and seizing at high drag levels. Replacing the carbon washers used in conventional drags, the DRD washer features eight metal rollers mounted on a single metal plate. This suppresses the reduction in drag force due to frictional heat, and its durability is more than five times that of carbon washers (according to Daiwa’s comparative tests). Furthermore, it contributes to a smoother initial drag release.
